motor noise

I have 74000 mi on my super hawk and I thought I would
post up on a oddity this bike does I've never experienced
on any other bike . When chain gets a little loose I get this
knocking under acceleration that sounds like it's comeing
from the motor . First time I thought my cam chain tensioner
was on the way out . I adjusted my drive chain and knocking
went away until chain loosens up again . When chain gets to
the point that adjusting chain at tight spot it still knocks because
of uneven chain wear I replace chain and sprockets and all is fine.
I've been through 4 or 5 chain / sprocket changes and it's always
the same scenario . I'm selling my bike but I have had no problems
and it's never let me down .

What CCT's do you have? APE's or Stock? Mine had a lot of weird noises that went away when I upgraded to APE's at 54000 miles.

No, he's correct. If it's loose, it makes a nice chain slapping sound. Scares ya, ya think it's CCTs, then you adjust the chain to spec, and it get's real quiet by your left foot. Mine did this recently. I had the fear of imminent CCT failur, bought a set. Looked at my chain and felt STUPID! So I'll install the CCTs cause I have them, not cause I need them, YET.

You guys could probably do with a bit more chain lube and cleaning... If it's not taken care of properly it wears and stretches... Well cared for it lasts a lot longer...
