Loud pop, now no start

I attempted to start it this morning to go to work, and there was a loud pop (same kind i get occasionally with downshifting now that i have these aftermarket pipes on it)

Now, she cranks but won't fire. Behaving almost like it does when you try to start a bike with the cutoff switch engaged.

I have a voltmeter, just not sure what to check or what values to look for. I don't have a service manual yet.

Could it be the cutoff switch? if so, how do i check it?

i bypassed mine when it started giving me **** why not try that? now my bike works fine i just have to drop the stand while in gear or turn the key to shut off, neither one is any harder than hitting the kill switch.

then again i had no "pop" so that might not be where you want to start. i would check fuses first. maybe your not getting spark. thats where i would start. the wire going to the coil from cylinder 2 is right by the battery mounted to the rear sub frame on the throttle side, use your voltmeter but i have no idea what values would work anything above nothing means move on IMO.

Check the R/R and the main fuse... Both can make popping sounds when they fail...

Forgot to mention.... lights/etc still work.

Would that rule out the main fuse?

That it would... Doesn't rule out the R/R though...
