Key-on power location

Hello,

I've just received an ebay voltmeter, could you suggest a location for tapping in which only gets power with the key on? In the past I've used a 12v relay triggered by the front position lines, but if you know anything simpler, and without needing to remove the fairings, please tell me.

It may be easier to get to the taillight wires, these should always be on with the ignition. There are also similar opportunities in/around the fuse box, both of these just require the seat to be removed., then lift the tank front to run wires up to the meter. I have used the taillight feed to trigger a relay, and run a positive feed directly from the battery terminal through the relay to the meter, then back to ground, that avoids the VM from reading any load variations in the wiring loom as you use lights etc.

I used the 3rd eye light over the headlight since my voltmeter was dash mounted. Or you could tap into headlight power but I don't like risking that circuit as your life can depend on it.
