digital 5-function volt meter installation issues...

so I got this:
[flash width=250 height=250]http://www.casporttouring.com/store/graphics/00000001/dig_vlt_mtr.jpg[/flash]

and have some questions... it has 3 wires. Black - ground, red - positive battery terminal, and orange to positive power turned on by ignition... well my question is first where do you recommend connecting each? I'd prefer not connecting directly to the battery... I have an idea where to put the constant positive power... Ground I'd like a good location for this... And then power from ignition I'd like to know as well.. THEN!!! I'd like some mounting solutions to this... It's kind've awkward with our guage cluster and it won't fit on the triple clamps... I thought about making some risers and putting it on there still so I clear the middle steering stem... I'd like not to put it on the tank as it's difficult to see there... I know nothing is gonna be perfect so... throw some ideas out there... thanks

Hey there dude. Good to see you found this place.

That's all. I'm not much help. But a lot of these guys are pretty knowledgeable. When they're not complaining about their bad backs and grey hair....!!! :O

I hooked mine up via an auto 12v relay from radio shack. Mounted the relay next to the main switch/wiring on the left side under the rear cowl close to the battery. Hooked +/- to the battery and the switched + to the tail light.

I used a totally different voltmeter so I don't have any advice on the location.

HTH.

I was thinking about getting that one too!
Let us know what you figure out on the mounting.
It sounds like yours has the relay already built in !
If so, no worries about connecting to the battery. It won't be acitvated until the relay is turned on by the switched power wire (the orange one)
