Hoping to get more response
Does any one know if cutting your exhaust cans hurts the performance. I had one response and I would like to hear more if any one has more info. I have Jardine RT-ONES high mounts and I noticed someone had cut theirs and it sounded different so I need feed back before I hack my $600+ exhaust system.................

I cut six inches off my aluminum RT-1's. If there was any difference in performance it was extremely minuscule. A rejet may be in order but mine seemed to be ok with the settings I used with the the full length Jardines. The sound did change, but not as much as I thought it would. I think they definitely look better now though.
It's a pretty easy project if you decide to it. I would just recommend that you take your time and be very precise. Last thing you want to do is muck up those beautiful RT-1's.

shorter cans don't eliminate as much of the high frequency noise as a longer can will. The result is a more pingy type noise that will bleed through. That said my 10 in stubs don't sound much different than a full length d&d setup Springbubba is running on his hawk. To the untrained ear really no difference. As far as performance change I don't see why it would make much of a difference from the full length can. The openings and internal will want to flow a nearly identical volume of exhaust.
