help with rough running vtr

Evening guy's

Got my storm back on the road the other day after new motor been stuck in it and every thing seems fine....until you ride it.
If I hold it about 4-5rpm it stutters thru the rev range in all gears. I have stripped the carbs more then once today and checked coil packs plus plugs.
Using 190 jets with two turns on the pilot screws. Needle hight is on number.
Pulling the coke on don't help still does it.. like trying to ride a bull

So far i have re-jetted again and still no joy
Done
Full compression test
Leak down test
Checked fuel lines
changed exhaust
changed carbs
cleaned carbs
checked coil packs
checked spark plugs
Done cam timing
removed alarm
new emulsion tubes

And...........Still not got to the bottom of it all!
Aghhhhh

Any idea?

What's the history of the fuel used?

My bike was extremely rich with a 185 jet, causing stumbling issues like you describe. Could it be your jetting is just way off? Also are your hoses connected to the petcock correctly?

Fuel i use is 98 ron super unleaded stuff

All hoses are fitted right with no leaks and i took the fuel tap apart and checked that. All seems fine there!
I have only got a mild tuning work done which is
Full arka system with 280mm mtc pipes,k&n,stage one dyno jet kit.

Have tryed 190 jets,180 jets Still no help and 170 jets really mess the bike up to the point where is will not run at all.

What i am trying to find out is on the carb the hole that the needel slides in to (mine is ovel shape) but i cant seem to find that spare any where

Knowing nothing about it, but replaying what I have read here time and again, ditch the K&N, go back to OEM filter and OEM jetting, needles included. Keep the pipe, and follow the jetting correction instructions elsewhere here for replacing the pilot, raising the needle, and filling the front lift hole in the slide. More than once, that has "fixed" a jetting or running problem.

You slides are trashed...... and as it sounds like you have a dynojet kit in there make sure you add the extra lift hole if you swap slides around.

I think i might try that next. What's the chances of the needles been worn out?
I did get a low mileage set of carb's and they don't seem to fix the issue

Little update this morning, When riding it now (with 180 jets) needle on the 4th clip
it seems to be popping and banging when you let of the throttle

Air leak at exhaust gasket / carb inlet? Did you use new Honda OEM collapsable copper gaskets when mounting the exhaust headers? (take out any remaining old ones from the new 2nd hand engine that can appear merged into the cylinder head outlet with camouflaging soot etc) Check condition of rubber carb inlets, if perished/cracked replace.

I was more interested in how old and or possibly contaminated the fuel might be than the octane etc.
