Exclamation Gas

Just wondering... On your fuel shut off valve. I belive clockwise is all the way open and counter clockwise is all the way closed. A mechanic told me that you need it in between the two for full open is that correct?

I never messed with mine. Just pulled the vacuum line and removed the tank.

I don't believe that is the case. If my my memory serves me right, the petcock isn't marked on/off but I mine is cranked open. I don't know if that is righty-tighty or lefty-loosey.

The middle position is usually the open position on a traditional petcock (the others are OFF & RESERVE). The petcocks on our bikes are simply OFF or ON and it is marked on my petcock. That sounded dirty

Same here, I shut the dirtbikes off only, Haven't had my Hawk long enough to worry about it. If i know i'm not going to be able to ride it for a long time for some reason I may shut it off though.

You mean to say that every time you get off the bike you pull the tank and shut the valve? That's odd.

The petcock on the Superhawk doesn't need to be shut off. Even when you pull the tank. The vacuum actuated valve takes care of that. If you need to shut the pectock off your vacuum valve is faulty and you'll probably be having fuelling issues anyway.

Sweet, I just won't be shutting it off then, thanks.
