When I down shift into 1st gear, I always hear this higher pitched sound (as if it's spinning a fan or something similar). I hear this sound even when I'm holding down the clutch. I feel like the bike slows down a bit as well - even though I'm holding the clutch (I have to confirm). Is this normal? a common problem?

 

My bike does the same thing. And it hasn't had a problem with 30K on the odometer.

 

My bike has allways had a noise when I kick it into first gear. I have 12K on the clocks and have had no problems.

I am use to the noise - I never have to guess what gear I am in. I rarly look at the tack, I ride by sound.
