Firestorm refuelling issue

I dont know if anyone has had this issue in the past but hope someone can assist.
Iv got myself a 97 firestorm, runs amazingly, untill it comes to refuelling.

i like to get down to at least 1/4 of a tank before i refuel. Then I fill her right back up to the brim only after refuelling will the girl start playing up.

Basically one of the cylinders would shut down completely whilst riding and i would lose all power and come to a halt.

If I leave the bike practically all day without starting up or anything so its all settled the bike runs perfectly fine and you can ride the bike all the way to refuelling time with no issues. and those whom had a VTR refuelling is a very regular occurance.

Hope someone can help
many thanks

Highly likely it's vapor lock... one of the vent lines may be plugged or you may be filling it too full. Basically the tank can't vent and builds up a vacuum so that not enough fuel can reach the cylinders.

Next time it happens, try popping the gas cap (either before hand or with a second key. Or if your key is worn enough you can just take it out of the ignition ). You may even hear air entering the tank and if it runs better (normal) then this is the issue.

Its vapor lock. Wont happen if you dont fill up to the very top (up the neck)

Happen to me on the Brooklyn bridge. Had to shut off bike to remove key & open tank while coasting down the bridge incline, then restart.
