Master cylinder....

So, when that master cylinder took a dump while riding, i torn it apart and ordered a new one from the local honda stealer. Well, got the part in and it looks nothing like what came out of the bike. Im at a total lost. I ordered the right part, for the right bike, for the right year.

It appears to me that the MC you have on the bike is not stock. I recognize the internals on the right... the left not so much. You have a pic of your MC?

if you have a pic of the mc and calipers,we all might be able to help you out with what you have.
if im correct, from your member pic,it looks like you have upside down forks, which could be anything.
but the most common forks for the bike is 900rr,rc51.so you may have front brakes from a 954,929,rc51 .
take pics is the most important you can do so maybe we can help.

it looks like a rc51/929 calipers and mc.
on the bottom of the mc,it will have a number on it.it will be 2 numbers with a slash mark in between.
what are thay?
read thru some of this,it may help better understand what you have.

rc51 or 929 mc
2000/2001 rc51 and same years with 929
2000/2001 rc51 is aka rvt1000/sp1/firestorm
the sp1 model is what you want, thats rc51 in the states.
in ebay or the ads or fiche, you will see rc51 sp1 or rc51 sp2
look for rvt1000/rc51 sp1
thats is the 3/4
the bore is different from the newer rc51's,which is 11/16th

honda 929 aka cbr900rr/929/fireblade
the 929 was only made for 2 years,i think both years have the same mc as the rc51 sp1

if i am wrong about any of this,im sorry,im sure if someone knows better, they will chime in and correct it.so no matter what, look and research, you will learn a lot.
we all try and help,no matter what.

looks to me like they sent you the service kit for the rear master cyl not the front that you wanted

edit..........2nd look says it is not a rear either, so scratch that observation

No, they definitely sent the correct part... IF he was working on a stock MC. Which he definitely does not have.
