says the 04-07 cbr1000rr clutch plates are the same as the vtr1000f. can someone confirm this? it would make the search that much easier and likely cheaper

 

Well a quick search show that Honda does list the same P\N for the friction plates.

Some of the clutch plates are the same though the CBR does use at least one different one.

Also the clutch plate spring and the judder spring are different.

 

ronayers.com has a reverse part number lookup feature. It shows the 04-07 CBR1000RR and 98-05 VTR1000F use the same clutch plates. Whether or not they use the same amount i do not know, this may affect you if you're buying a "kit".

thanks for the link bud. i ended up buying a ferodo clutch last night. see how it works when i get it in. some guys were saying the aftermarket clutches were a little too aggressive for street use but i avoid the city as much as i can and i ran a stage 4 6 puck clutch in my car and got used to it so im sure ill be fine

Ferodo should be amiable enuff. The barnett springs take both hands which is great for racing but a burden on the street.

 

good to know joe. i may try running the oem springs with these clutch plates or i may toss in the ebc springs i have. ill see how saucy im feeling when the time comes. ill likely go with ebc

 

Are you sure you need plates? When I went to change mine they didnt even need it.

 

the clutch is slipping pretty bad. the motor had 15000km on it when i bought the bike, ive done i think close to 12000km and this last year it saw 2 track days and i was doing alot of clutch up wheelie practice. it was getting bad mid season slipping during hard shifts into 3rd gear and higher. even in one of my track vids you hear me shift and it just slips and i get passed by another bike pretty bad. so shes done. unless theres something else causing it to slip. even on my last ride of the year it was slipping on me. i was hoping to avoid sinking any money into this thing this winter but it needs a few things and this is one of them

 

Clutch up wheelies? Slipping? Yeah I think those are pretty safe symptoms. There is a guy on barf or wera selling cbr1000 clutches for $75 each.
