Question Clutch - do you have to drain the coolant to remove the clutch cover?

Preppping for my first clutch replacement. The manual says to drain the coolant and remove the water pump, then remove the clutch cover.

Is that necessary or can you leave the water pump attached to the cover and just remove the cover?

Thanks.

You can leave the pump attached to the cover but you do need to drain the coolant.
