Carbs spewing gas

Recently had a guy knock my hawk over with his truck now when I tried to start it and the carbs are spewing gas out of the hoses on the top where the air box sits. I drained the carbs and hit the float bowl with a screw driver to see if the float may have been stuck but when I tried to start it again it was leaking gas again. Any ideas?

Sounds like you're going to have to pull the carbs apart and see what's up. Sounds like it must have jarred one of the floats to the point it's stuck. Good luck with it!

You could try tapping on the sides of the carb bolws to re-seat the float first... like with the butt end of a scredwriver or something.

+1.

Could be a bit of small debris from the bottom of the bowl got loose and lodged in the valve seat. I have seen this trick work for that problem.

If the bike has been siting for a while, you may have varnish build up.
Gas will do that when it sits in carbs. A good cleaning of the internals
is prescribed to get ride of it, and avoid future problems again with the
same thing.
If you are fortunate enough to live in a place where you may ride year
round, well, this is not as common. However, if like some of us, you are plagued with old man winter, you need a fuel stabilizer in order to avoid this
during those long winter months when the bike just sits.

I live in VA and still ride pretty much all year around so the gas is usually never more than an week or two (at most) old.
