Cam chain gone?
Hi there. I was sat at idle at the traffic lights this morning when my bike died. It went with the sound of a slight clunk then it sounded like the chain came off! Tried once to turn it over but starter wouldn't turn. It tried to but seemed jammed. What's the deal if my chain has eaten itself? I only think it's this as it was booked in for a new chain and tensioner next week as tensioner was stretched. What great timing!
Cheers, Andy.

The chain should last the life of the engine... and if it snapped you've got other problems at hand. It sounds more like the CCT failed, the chain hopped on the gears throwing them out of time. You can't turn it over now because the piston is hitting the valves.

Thanks Inderocker, it's in the shop on Tuesday so I'm hoping for some good news. Hopefully be back on the road ASAP. Albeit with a great big dent in my wallet! I've been monitoring the other threads too and looks like there's a few others that have experienced the same thing. Oh well, seems like a good time to strip it and have it sprayed too.
