2002 Superhawk stalls out when driving high speeds for extended period??? Any Ideas??
Hi, I was driving my 2002 1000f superhawk down the highway and when I run it at 130mph or over for a few minutes it stalls out like it is not getting any fuel to the carbs. I took the tank off and checked the fuel lines and blew out the tank lines with air. Still have problem. The bike stalls and I half to choke it to restart it. I can then drive high speeds again for a while. Not sure what the problem is any ideas????
-Any aftermarket parts? (mufflers, jet kit, etc.)
-When was the last tuneup (plugs, carb balance, valve adjustment, air filter)
-How many miles are on the bike
-Do you weigh 300lbs?

Mainly from knowledge learned from here. But it was definitely a fuel starvation issue. So a malfunction in the automatic petcock made sense. From what I hear, I guess they usually leak out of the vent on the bottom. I don't recall mine doing that. Maybe it did though.
Also, search for PVLIR here on the forum. This could be another possible cause if you had the tank off shortly before the problem occurred.
