I'm just about finished making my own set. I still have to cut the other side but thats it. I made them from 6061-T6 aluminum 1" thick which I believe is 1/4" thicker than the APE ones. I wanted the adjuster bolt to have more threaded area. What type of carriage bolt do you guys think I should buy, stainless or zinc plated?

Im using Stainless. Zinc plating will look like **** in a few years.

My CCT's are 3/4 6061 T6

Looking good! You should leave them aluminum. I'd go with an anodized finish if you wanted them to stay looking good. Steel is a lot heavier, although these parts are small it all adds up!

 

Good work, I'd love to have access to a mill, I may buy my own in the future so I can make all those parts I can think of

 

Almost done, I just have to attach the adjuster nut. I think I will drill and use a drive pin to attach the nut. I'm not much of a welder. I think APE uses a pin to attach theirs too.

Not going to countersink the bolt heads? Makes adjusting them very easy.

I was going to, but for some reason I wanted to use the stock bolts. Don't know why now. Now that I see it, I probably will c-bore them.

 

mine use the stock bolts. You can thread the stock bolts in untill they bottom out to find out how deep you need to go.

 

Never thought of that. I'll have to try that.
