Yoshimura RS-3 Zyclone Bafflectomy
I searched all over and struck out. Decided to post a DIY. I purchased a 98 VTR with 12k miles. She's a beauty. Mint. I cleaned, jetted, synchronized the carbs and performed PAIR removal because it was running rough below 4K RPMS. Running like new now. It has a K&N filter and Yoshimura cans. I didn't know if they were race or not until browsing the web. They are Yoshimura RS-3 Zyclone's which don't flow much better than stock. I called Yoshimura for the conversion kit and was quoted $150. I'll pass. I figured I needed race baffles in order to match the jetted carb and K&N filter.
This is how I performed the Yoshimura RS-3 Zyclone Bafflectomy:
I had to make 4 cuts to each baffle with a dremel and hack saw.
1st I cut the extension off the inner baffle with a hack saw
Then rest of the cuts need to be done with a dremel.
2nd cut is inside the inner baffle just above the tack welds to remove the inner baffle choke tube to get to the outer sleeve.
3rd cut is inside the outer baffle just above the choke tube cut but just below the sleeve weld.
4th and final cut is on the opposite end of the baffle on the inner perforation just below the solid sleeve. I then used a small punch to stick through the outer perforation of the baffle and drive the inner perforated baffle inward to narrow it for exit through the bottom of the outer baffle.
No more restriction

So I had a chance to get her out on the road and she seems to have lost quite a bit on the bottom end. Sounds good but I need the performance over sound. My assumption is that the carb slides can't keep up with the exhaust flow. I am going to add some 2" fender washers to restrict some of the flow. I will add pics and post results when finished.
UPDATE: Added washers 2" outer diam and just over 1.5" inner diam, still has mean rumble and got my power back
The vacuum and exhaust seem to be in sync now.
