I have been on the U.K forum and it was suggested that I remove the anti rattle gear altogether, any one on here done that?

Removed anti rattle gear. Noise has changed so maybe there was a problem with that gear.

Guess what there is still a noise and it is coming from the water pump.

Had a Honda dealer install new bearing, mechanical seal and seal.

Is it possible to fit either seals incorrectly? I'm thinking maybe the mechanical seal, or can they only be fitted one way?

Didnt you think it was the water pump before you changed the seals?

The mechanical seal is a press fit which could be pressed too far allowing the impeller to contact the cover and make noise. You would see evidence by removing the pump cover and seeing if there is ground aluminum from impeller or cover.

Its worh a look...

Thats the weird thing with this whole process.

No rub marks anywhere, no filings no swarf.

The anti rattle gear must have been cocked because I have removed it, and now the noise is different and coming from the water pump.

The latest thing that I am contemplating is an electric water pump.

First I am taking the cover with the pump back to the Honda dealer who installed the new bearing ,seal, and mechanical seal to let them have a look at it.

What a rigmorol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to even say it but it may be worth letting them have a listen to your noise. Sometimes you need a different perspective. Just dont give them an open ended "fix it" thing.

Thumper is an unknown quantity at this point
Pull the clutch and basket, fix the gears that are rattling put back together and go ride. you are chasing ghosts.

I know you say the gears didn't move, but apparently they did. Believe me its easy to do and i had to pull clutch basket to get mine corrected as well.

Hope i am wrong (probably) and the dealer finds something in the water pump, but my money says you caused the problem and you are going to have to bite the bullet and pull the clutch gets the two gear aligned and loaded correctly, reassemble and smile.

Yep, I know what you meen Thumper.

I have removed the anti rattle gear and the noise did change. The clunk was gone but the waterpump was making a noise like marbles being shaken in a can.

The bike shop[ who put the new water pump parts in are having a look at it now.

All I want to do is get rid of the bloody noises and ride my bike.

I won't be very happy if it turns out that the bike shop have done something wrong with the water pump, but on the other hand I will as I can then get it back together and ride it again.
