Dyno results
I had my trusty VTR dynoed last week with the new billet velocity stacks and Akra full system: 113 hp and just shy of 72 lb-ft (also have DJ kit, stock air filter and airbox with snorkel opened up; final jetting 165F, 170R, needle: 4th clip with OEM shim and one Yamaha shim (0.016"), stock pilots, not sure about airscrew as I didn`t set it). To be honest I was hoping for a bit more but, as the bike has over 70,000 miles on it (120,000 km), they are quite good numbers (am surely losing a few hp and lb-ft due to teh accumulated wear). That means that once I get the new pistons in, the better sealing, slight bump in displacement and higher compression should land me easily over 120 hp and close to, if not over, 80 lb-ft.
In the real world, the bike runs perfectly. Engine response is RIGHT NOW!!!!! and it pulls like gangbusters regardless of RPM. I am definitely happy with it (although my mind inevitably wanders to thoughts of what it will run like after the rebuild....)
cheers

yep, the mains (DJ 165 and 170) are indeed smaller than I was running before (although the tuner said that installing Akra systems often requires going leaner on the mains too). As the two (stacks and exhaust) were installed together, I cannot say where the effect of one stops and the other begins. I can say that previous to that, when I was running the 2-1 with two long runners, I believe it was 180/185.
As a side note, anyone who thinks that carbs don`t work well and that FI is the ticket for engine response has not ridden my VTR. Response is flawless with no flat spots of any kind at any rpm. Together with the HRC throttle tube (and numerous rotating weight savings, including flywheel, rims and rear rotor), it`s quite a lively ride

113/72 are pretty impressive numbers though
glad to hear you are happy
i still had no time to put everything together as we talked before, i am waiting for the 1000RR underseat system and the seat/subframe to arrive.

You`ll get much better than that with your Stage 1 engine (granted those are Dynojet dyno numbers too it must be said so a Superflow would read lower), after all, it`ll be a fresh engine (plus you have OS valves and your cams are likely timed to spec whereas my exhaust cams are off by 2 degrees to bring the powerband down, likely costing me a bit in peak numbers)
