If the VTR sensor is like my current 96 VFR (and I think it is), the pink wire of the three wire cable is the sender, the other two are +/-.

Waht do you mean exactly when you say "take a feed" ??? (dunno, might be that english is a second language to me...) because it doesn't make sense combined with the question about switched or live?

But those wires are supposed to be the sensor for the neutral light, ie there are one positive sensor and one negative in that multi purpose unit since different bike models have either positive or negative sensing on that (ie some use a diode, some not...)

In the case of the VTR i believe it should work by hooking up the n+ wire to the wire for the neutral sensor...

Sorry, I hadn't had my morning caffeine fix before replying. I somehow thought you were asking about the speedo' sensor.......

Not having read the instructions, I'd guess that the unit gives you a choice of hooking up the neutral indicator to a + or - feed not both. You'll need the VTR schematic to determine which one it uses. IIRC on my 96 VFR, it as a -.

There is a light green wire that comes off the neutral sensor and ties in between the ECU and the fuse box. That is the N+. The neutral sensor itself is grounded to the motor so it would seem to me that any ground would work for N-.
