So, who would take a perfectly good SuperHawk, and try to make a "Standard" motorcycle out of it?? (I use standard because once you're over 40, streetfighter sounds corny) Well, I'm doing it, because that's what I do. If it's got a fairing, take it off. If it's naked, build a fairing for it. Guess I'm not the first or the last to love tinkering in the garage with bikes. Anyway, for phase 1 of this project, I wanted to take the fairing off, build a couple brackets to hold a new headlight, bar risers and bar, new signals, etc.

Still in the process of cleaning up details. Just painted the lower chin cowl black, looks a lot better I think. Need to clean up a few hoses, add some barend mirrors. I may run a gps for speedo, but I have a plan to run the stock speedo, here's how I butchered it up so far:





even incorporated some diamond plate to button it all up



got a bracket idea in mind using a plastic tee to mount it to the handlebar.

Oh yeah, close-ups of the radiator shrouds I made with the olf HF bending brake, some diamond plate, a pizza pan (aluminum), and the ol' Dremel:

 

 

Lookin' good! Honestly I think the radiator would look better painted black, but how that would affect cooling efficiency I do not know. The extra layer of paint, as long as it's lighty applied and not too much of an insulator would probably be okay.

Then, maybe the wing in red would set everything off nicely!

 

I like the idea, but that gold diamond plate makes it look like you ran into a Kleenex box...

 

I like what you're doing with the stock speedo. I am still looking for the right solution to using my stock cluster for my build.

 

Cool ideas here, but be careful on overusing diamond plate. Too much and it looks like you work at a farm shop. I really dig your radiator covers, and the gauge mod, but not so much the headlight housing. It looks ok from the front, but the side profile is odd.

Keep it up man, its a journey making an SH look good naked, and not everyone does when you do!

 

The front flyscreen really looks pretty cool (IMO), but it's so angular, that it's hard to see in photos. From the side it doesn't look bad, you just don't really notice it. Hey, I could've easily slapped a CF Buell screen on there, cut a hole in it, and look just like a lot of others. But I did that on my last bike, wanted more of my own work on this one.

Nothing, I checked out your build thread, nice bike you have too.

A long term project might be to build the rad covers out of carbon fiber, attached to aluminum channel painted black. That would look pretty cool. First, I wanted to ride for a while to see if I like the look of the rads where they are, or move to a single mounted up front.

 

I'd be interested in a set of those Rad covers but if they could be done in an aluminum so that I could anodize them to match my color scheme... If that's doable and you have a cost in mind, shoot me a pm.... Almost done getting all the parts for y hawk and then I'll be putting them together in the next couple weeks. Anyhow, VERY interested. LOVE the honda wing incorporation! Headlight housing though, bro, blows. Just being honest. Don't take that the wrong way my man!

 

Then rock it man! Just because everyone doesn't like it doesn't mean you shouldn't I have had a few of those of my own in my past with my SH...

 

Your bike looks super clean (in the before picture). How did you get your plastics to look that nice? I've washed/waxed mine and they still don't look that nice.

 

I'll jump on the radiator covers bandwagon, very nice. I really need to pick one of those up. What's your overall plan for the gauges?, like layout and such, because as it stands it could get pretty interesting. Especially if you decide to mount a GPS somewhere.

The headlight may not be my cup of tea but thumbs up for doing you.
