It only took a couple of years.....

Well, after having this Moriwaki lower in the garage for about three years, something finally motivated me to finally get it installed!

I had to custom make the brackets, and I have 3 of 4 complete, but I'm going for a ride this evening and the other one can wait until morning. 2 of the 3 were chopped/modified from an old bracket I had from a CBR1000RR. The other one I made from some aluminum stock. The last one on the front left will simply be an "L" shape bracket coming off the old stock bracket next to the oil filter.

So here it is...

Looks great and unique!

My memory may be failing me, but I don't remember seeing a Moriwaki like that. Mine looks a little different. It follows the carter shape. Maybe they used to sell multiple styles.

AFAIK Moriwaki made two different lowers, one for street riders, one for track... The one for track is basically designed to hold the entire volume of the fluid in the engine unless you open up the vent holes that are sealed from factory...

Dunno if that accounts for different looks, as it would be as much about volume as sleek lines...

MIne has cutouts in the bottom/sides, so it may be the street version.

Here is a pic of the street version in carbon (cutouts modified slightly by Cliby): HERE

I've seen several different versions of the Mori lower. I think they may have changed their design several times while it was in production. Mine is a fiberglass version too, so there may have been some differences there.

Nice Greg, have not seen your VTR for a while. A bit of orange peel but not too shabby. I'm surprised your running the OE shifter and oil cooler lines whose fittings have a fair bit of corrosion. You still have the OE oil cooler? How many miles now?

Oh, and when R U cashiering out of the USN, or did U? I've been watching your LinkedIn page but can't remember.

Yeah, I didn't pay super high $$ for the paint job, though it's good enough. It was done by EmpireGP, but I think he's out of business now, as the website link is dead. Good thing I didn't pay much anyway, since my wife's bike fell onto it in an enclosed trailer on the way back from CA back in 08. We didn't find it until like 100 miles down the road. That's the rub marks on the right side.

I only replace stock stuff if I know it will fail (CCT), is too heavy (exhaust), is poorly designed (forks), or it breaks (R/R).

10 days and a wakeup and I will no longer "work" for the Navy, though I will continue to get paid until the end of September. I start with Ameren on Aug. 27th.

Congratulations! Where will you be "stationed" with Ameren? I did not realize it is a Land of Lincoln based company. Corporate HQ

All that good training and experience from the USN I'm sure has made you very marketable. Will your starting salary enable you to feed your two-wheeled habit more sufficiently, or do you need to do some catching up before discretionary funds will be available for that?

Well, with the housing market the way it is, and the fact that I'll be making, with my retirement pay, about 50% more annually, I'd say that after I pay off some credit cards an S1000RR is definitely within the budget, as is a Z06! I will keep the GTO as my 377 rwhp daily driver, as it has been for the last 7 years.

I'll be working out at the Callaway plant near Fulton, MO. Ameren HQ is actually in St. Louis, and that is where I had my first interview/testing. Union Electric of MO and CIPSCO merged some years ago, then they acquired Illinois Power and Light, and became Ameren UE and Ameren IL. A few years ago Ameren UE changed their name to Ameren MO. I dunno, it's complicated.... Company History | Ameren

Looks really good. I have a Skidmarx on my ride, and it looks really close to what you have Honda

I also have a double paint job, Lucifer Orange with the black belly, really changes the look of the bike. They supply a good braket system that makes installation very easy.

Once again, nice ride..;o)

If I could get my out of my A@@, I could post pics. I guess this will be for a later date.
