MUFFLER SLEEVE REPLACEMENT

While going through a sharp curve leaning ran into a bit of sand and bike slid out across the lane into a grassy ditch. Thankfully no damage to me, however rashed the right engine cover and d and d slip-on. Have purchased a used engine cover. Has anyone ever tried replacing an exhaust muffler sleeve? D and D sleeves are riveted on. Would a metal fabrication shop be able to do this? or would i just as well buy new?

I'm pretty sure you can get a replacement sleeve for the D&D slip-on from the manufacturer.

There are replacement sleeves for several brands on Ebay..

eg: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motor...Q5fAccessories

But I don't know what size your D&Ds are.

inderocker is an unknown quantity at this point
Contact D&D for a replacement sleeve. Usually they will have kits containing the sleeve, badge and necessary rivets (Yoshimura did anyhow). Replacing the sleeve is easy enough to do at home, simply drill out the rivets, remove the sleeve, then rivet the new sleeve into place. Do not use a drill bit that is as large as the head of the rivet.

I replaced a sleeve on a TBR aluminum can. Fairly straight forward. Drill new holes through the sleeve into the end cap, as hitting the old holes will be difficult. (Once the end cap is in place you can't see where the old holes are.) I marked the existing hole locations on the end cap so I didn't get to close to the old holes. A fine file & some wet & dry 300 grit sand paper followed with a metal polish (I like the Honda metal polish) will do wonders fixing the end caps if necessary.
