What would you do with 6 gallons?
I enlarged a stock VTR tank up to 5.2 gallons (1+) and whereas the added height and weight is hardly noticeable, as I'm +60 (oldest thread poster?) so I never run my "big" tank as I also cannot ride longer than 120+/- miles before I have to void my "tank".
I have it for sale if anyone is interested...market price LOL
See my thumbnail photo at left, I'm wearing the "big" tank for over double range!
Actually I was taking it to a friends where we did the welding work.

SkokieVTR Big VTR Tank
First of all, Markus how is the wife and baby?! Either post up or email me photos of at least the baby and your "garage"; and maybe SWMBO (reference Rumpole of the Bailey).
In the interest of full disclosure, I have the following comments regarding the enlarged tank I crafted:
1. The construction is MIG welded with very little filler material used at the two 80% circumferential seams (the rear of tank was not cut with the "front" lifted and a spacer "band" inserted that was welded to the top and bottom halves).
2. The interior has been sealed with 2 separate applications of POR15 and shows 0 signs of pin holes and corrosion blooms; and the tank has no leaks.
3. The paint color is a bit on the "orange" side IMO but otherwise is very good consisting of 3 primer, 2 intermediate, 3 finish and 2 clear coat applications.
4. Which leads to the only real not insurmountable issue with this fuel cell. That being the person I had help me apply the second application of POR15 (because my arms were getting tired rotating the tank to ensure 100% uniform film thickness) did not pay attention and allowed the POR15 to get into the tank vent tube under the fuel inlet overflow catch "doughnut" *** vapor pocket. The consequence, despite me using MEK and Acetone (but not methylene chloride) to chemically, and a speedometer cable with a sharpened end on a drill motor, is the vent tube is blocked. The east "fix" is using a vented gas cap; i.e., I have chosen but not yet purchased
Honda Rapid Lock Tank Cap Silver
5. I would offer with the tank the 1998~2000 US style fuel petcock (valve) in very good functioning condition; or not.
Price: Whatever the market will bear but I have over $550 invested excluding my time. I also have a fuel level sender and O-ring, fuel screen & the rubber bits but probably will keep them as "spares" unless someone makes me an offer I cannot refuse for them.
