lets just say they lifted the truck off it and it wasnt worth keeping the fairing. it sat in my garage a couple of years before i decided to do something with the pile of parts. always liked street fighters and i was getting kinda tired of the yellow Chiquita banana look so i powdercoated everything flat black!
the only mods are; 2Bros ex-highmount aluminum cans(i fabbed some shortys), a set of healthy michelins, some bar end mirrors, VFR800 clipons, stainless lines all around, new lights (a pair of Hellas are coming)
its still quite snowy here so i havent ridden her yet but she feels really light without all the bodywork and seat frame! just gotta get a gel pad for the seat. dont hold back, tell me what you think!

Thats wild,but I'm not so sure about the extremely short seat. Hope you don't wheelie too much. And your killin your ground clearance with the pipes. I've been wanting to try to build the exhaust similar to the one on the honda NAS. I'm glad I'm not the only one stretfightering my Superhawk. Toss all that plastic in the corner and show off that beautiful V-twin.

yr definitely right about the ground clearance. i want to give it a ride before doing anything about it tho. the seat and whole bike for that matter is on a trial and error temporary basis. i want it to remain ridable, without a doubt!
I was even thinking of moving the rads behind the seat to show more of the motor!

I think your bike is screaming for a Puig or Pyramid hugger. I like the short seat, maybe find one with those mini back rests.
The bike is VERY cool. Good going.

Yeah, I'm concerned about ground clearance on the leading edge of those mufflers. If all you do is street profiling, you're probably OK.
The seat to pegs distance is REALLY short. I'd last about 3 minutes on it. Seat to bars however should be pretty nice!
What did you do with the battery?

I'd definitely like to see pics of where you put all the electrics and battery. The radiators might not cool as well behind the seat although if you mounted them with somesort of air duct that funneled air to them it may work out great. Theres a pic of a blue superhawk streetfightered on bikepics.com, he has his radiators mounted in front of the engine. Just check out the photo archives and go to honda then to vtr1000 ,I can't remember what year it was under but definitely worth checking out.

thanks for the replies kids! I didnt take a picture of where I put the electrics, i will tho.
the battery fits snugly under the seat, i actually built the seat around the size of the battery, the ignition module is strapped on the inside of the main left frame beam and the converter box is behind the engine, under the tank, on the frame. the reg/rect is behind the battery support. the starter relay and fuse box is right behind the tail lamps(LEDs BTW!).
everything has room around it and has been isolated from vibration. I had to hardwire a couple of the connections to eliminate the connectors and save space. since we're being hit with another 8 inches of snow right now all i can do is start it up and let it idle in my garage. ground clearance shouldn't be too much of an issue since i don't ride on the track.
the one thing that worries me right now is heat hitting the ignition module and converter box. not sure how much heat they can handle without burning out.

kid, love the powdercoated frame! i have seen lots of polshed frames, but yours is the first powder coated and it looks the *****! i have always loved flat black, and i just may steal your idea with your permission of course......

Re: would you care to comment on my er... VTR?
kid?! flattery will get you nowhere! well, maybe somewhere, you can use my idea. since i got it from all the streetfighters/rat bikes/Mad Max movies/biker shows, i cant really say it's terribly original. but at least i did all the work myself including the powdercoating! still waiting on the headlights to arrive. should put a nice finishing touch on it!

Re: would you care to comment on my er... VTR?
dont worry, the wife takes very good care of that!
this was after all the powdercoating and first assembly.
the frame and tank;
rear before i hung the pipes;
couple of the seat (the tank was in an accident don't forget);
was there something in particular you wanted to see?

that poor thing... what were you thinking???
I am glad to have been out of the cold canadian winters for the last 5 years, it seems like cold air is leaving too much free time on people's hands!!
pretty unique though!

Unique is the word. The thing is a beast. IMO the headlights are way off the mark. How about two or three small black rectangular lights?

With the big round ones its buggy and frog like. With little retangles it will look sinister which is more in keeping with the style.

lol What about losing the instrument cluster and blacking out the brake calipers? If thats out of the question, how about one of those micro mini bikini bug windscreens like some of the cruisers have? I dunno, just throwing out ideas. 8)
I'd luv to see it going down the road. Your gonna be limited in what you can wear riding it although you are in the enviable position of being able to choose a full face or brain bucket helmet.

i wouldnt want my ugliness to compete with the bike's so, the brain bucket is out!
i did think of blacking out the calipers, and wheels, and engine, and hose clamps, and bolts, and... i kinda like the little variation on the theme.
still not sure about the headlights. i think the mold is getting itchy.
