Son has a '03 XR100R - just traded up from a Fiddy, now my soon to be 10 yr old daughter rides the Fiddy.

Also still have da wifes 35 yr old Bronco minibike - w/ Italian motor

Also just let my son drive for the 1st time - in desolate area - he did fine

BTW - I got 4 kids & still riding to Indy - whats ur excuse?

Been giving my 3rd grade daughter a ride home from school for 2 years now. Only a few times a year when i get home from work in time. What a treat for both of us! My dad was anti motorcyles, would have loved to have the feeling of getting picked up in front of my pals. The dad feeling watching her face is a pretty good substitute!

same thing happened to me when my son was about that age...had him in front of me on my first bike, a 1970 CB350, and he fell asleep on the tank at a traffic light...he's been riding on his own for years now and just picked up a nice 07 CBR600RR with only 300 miles on it...

I used to work in the motorcycle industry and my kids have been exposed to danger of the motorcycle (especially Supercross and motocross) When my oldest, now 8yo, was 2.5 yo, he was offsetting his butt on the his tricycle after his first superbike race at Fontana(California Speedway). LOL

All 2 boys have been riding pw50 and crf50 since 3yo with aftermarket training wheel. my youngest princess ride with me on XR100.

We relocated from So Cal to Ohio for my job relocation 1.5 years ago.
My 2nd son, now 4yo, asked me to ride Honda home coming run.
My wife is ok with dirt, but not so happy with street riding especially when I gear up with leather and boots to go over night twisties ride because of the risk. but she is the one said "Do it for him, because it could be last one, (Honda is closing the motorcycle plant in Ohio)

Anyway, I think it is ok as long as we educate kids what happen if you are being careless and stupid. Also doing maintenance with them is good training. also not only you, but always others can hurt you.

this is as close to riding as my son is going to get for now. No matter how much he begs, his mom wont break. She is very nervous about it as she lost her uncle to a cycle wreck a few years ago.

The hold on handles are hard to find in the here in the states but are way better than the buddy belt. Either of them though make the Moms feel better about letting the kidos go out with you on a ride.

what you guys need for your kids that want to ride is a nice new ktm 65 sx. those are such awesome mini bikes. or get them a mini rocket. thats what ill do when i get older and have kids.

That's cool! Get her some good riding gear, and when she's old enough, send her through the MSF course. She will get a lifetime of enjoyment from riding.

My first legal bike was a '73 CB500 four (back in 1991) that was fitted with an extended front fork and high rise bars by its previous owner... Will have to see if I have a picture somewhere... Didn't like the bars so they were replaced by stockers and I had the bike for a few years until an '84 VT500FT Ascot came along starting my desire for v-twins.
