Re: thinking of trading the Hawk on an RC51

The RC is a better "track" bike. Better in the Canyons. Has more "poser" appeal. Powerband is more "peaky" that the Superhawk. Nowhere near has "comfy".

RC51 suspension is generally refered to as "too hard". The SHawk's suspension is generaly refered to as "too soft". There's a big difference between the two. "too soft" you can live with on the street for every day riding. "Too Hard" sucks on the street, but rocks on the track.

If you only do short trips, track days and canyon riding...the RC is a better bike. If you do any kind of long distance trips, or want "everyday" utility, then stick with the Superhawk.

The RC also sucks as a 2 up mount.

BTW, please don't take my comments wrong. The RC51 is a FINE bike. It works GREAT on the track, and in twisty canyon roads. You can "live" with it for commuting, it won't me any worse than a GSXR ergonomics wise. There are plenty of folks who DO acomplish long rides on bikes similar to the RC and like it.

I just got to ride an RC51 for the first time. Here's a link to my thoughts about it on another post here:

I'd say it depends on what kind of riding you are doing. Both are great bikes, just made for 2 different kinds of riding.
Your intended purpose and riding style should determine the bike you buy.

I personally love my Hawk but if I was going to get a second bike for more aggressive play I would go with a CBR 1000, I mean tha things got 154 horses right outta the box
