Hi Eric,
Sorry, I have felt your pain. Not to get your hopes too high, I had 2 bikes recovered. One was a joy ride that was abandoned somewhere. It took a couple of days for the police to notice it. Just saying there is a chance you’ll get it back, hopefully.

Well its been a week and insurance company says if its not found in another week they will write it off. I already have a 2005 cbr 1000 with 1500 miles lined up from a co- worker who only does track days on his 600 now but the cbr is loaded with goodies so I really dont feel so bad about dumping money into my hawk and losing it all now.
by the way my hawk was black with a cracked rear tail and a sharkskinz lower.
I have a track day at summit scheduled for july 15th so that sucked but ill be taking this cbr so its not too bad I guess

Worse than having your bike stolen is... having it stolen, then recieving a phone call 3 weeks later at 3am saying the cops found it and you need to come get it...
When you pick it up, every lock is smashed, tank dented, panels busted, rear tire is squared off and the rubber that's missing from the tire is all over your swingarm and undertail...
THEN... to add insult to injury, the insurence guy refuses to write it off, and has all the stuff replaced, which seems cool, but I didn't want a bike back that has obviously been down numerous times and beaten on like a redheaded stepchild...
I feel your pain, but trust me, your better off never seeing it again.

You know the 1000rr is going to be an even more tempting carrot in an apartment complex.
Just remember though, if a crook wants your bike, he'll get it. no matter if theres alarms or locks or whatnot on it. Just always be on the lookout.
BTW Sams Club has some good wireless infrared Color Security Cameras for like $65 a pop and the battery lasts a good 5 hours. charge it up, place it somewhere discrete (in your personal vehicle like I do) and have it pointed at your bike. Voila! Now you have evidence that your bike was stolen!!

Congrats on the new bike and the new digs! Now go to the range. If you don't own a gun - rent one from the guys at the facility. Shoot a couple mags into each target and shoot several of them. When you're done take your targets back to the house. Hang them up in the garage, on the wall in a window that doesn't have blinds - not one of the fronts, the shed where your bike is. Guys that are going to knock over a house want to know what's there. They see these targets they will think twice about the chance that you might have had a dentist appointment that day and are coming home early. We've had several break ins here and this was one of our tactics to shut it down. Theives are like rats - you have to take the fight to them and bait helps.
