my seat latch is stuck!

I just spent 200$ getting custom passenger peg spacers made and installed and finally ready to take my girl for a ride.. the seat wont unlock to remove the solo cowl. The key turns, and nothing. They also replaced the rectifier so they were under there doing stuff, they said they had no prob w/ the seat. I cant explain to you how angry I am. I searched past threads and found others had the same problem, but thier solutions were not very detailed. I know my best bet is to reach the release cable under the back of the seat with a long screwdriver but where do i go in from?

There is a plastic grommet around the cable which operates the latch. That grommet is supposed to be inserted into a clip on the latch bracket. It has slipped off. This has happened to me before. It takes some patience, a long skinny screwdriver, and a flashlight to get in there from under the bike. If you push on the cable just right and turn the key you can get enough tension on it to operate the latch. This is best done with the aid of a buddy or significant other. Can be done with one person if they are a mutant with a third hand!
