I saw it in person at a Honda dealer and said, "I'm gonna own one of those".
Well a co-worker had one and said he was down grading to a SV650, and wanted to sell it. I didn't blink when I told him I would buy his SH. He is as **** about taking care of things as I am, so I knew it was sound. My first street bike was a 83' Honda CX650 Custom. I really didn't think about it at the time, but I just liked the power and torque of the V-twin. I went through a few I-4s over the years but when I saw the SH, I knew....

-One of the most timeless and best looking Japanese bikes ever made

-If ever a jack of all could be a master of any, this is the bike.

-Timeless....sure to be a classic. Unlike the other bikes I've regretted selling(84 RZ350, 86 GSXR 750)...I expect to keep this one as long as I'm riding.

-Appreciation and respect from veterans...perplexion from squids.

-A blast to ride without screaming past 12,000 RPM's....stealthy.

-Straddles more like a dirtbike

-What everybody else said

-I love passing fashionista yuppies on expensive Ducatis on track days!

After years of riding Interceptors and VFR's I just decided I wanted one. It just so happened that my dealer got a cream puff '99 in w/ low miles, and voila - back on two wheels. At first, I was a little sketchy about the bike, but after a few engine mods, etc.. I now love this machine more than any other (exept for my Ski Doo Rev's..), and would never part w/ it.

I'm 53 and back to biking after a 30 year lull. Fortunately or unfortunately I did the process of elimination thing, which cost me a bundle. I thought at my age I was suppose to like a cruiser. Got one and hated it. I grew up on a standard. I couldn't stand the lazy leaning back posture - found it totally uncomfortable, but I did like the V-twin. Moved to a 919 which was more of a standard, and hated the flexy frame and the buzzy I4. It proved to be a very uninspiring ride. Then I read about the SH, found a "new old stock" and the rest is history. It's not really a standard, but it's as close to perfect for me as I can find.

I saw a hawk at the dealer about 5 years ago and thought it was cool. They sound good and are honda-reliable. I got mine from salvage for 700 and have spent about 1600 in parts so far. Could have been cheaper, but got a new tank and a pair of MiG high mounts from ebay, along with many other bit and pieces. I have heard it run but have yet to ride it. I had to settle for my GSXR on Sunday.

I always liked the V-twins, a buddy had a bunch of Hawk GTs over the years and a Duc916 that I rode. I owned a VT500 Ascot (v-twin, shaft drive) Also wanted a sportbike but didn't like the weedwhacker inline 4 sound

I liked them when they came out. When I was looking for a bike early this summer, I found a hawk for sale nearby. It was owned by a 18 year old who had never even licensed it and had flipped it. So far I have no regrets.
