I figure if I'm going to change my fork seals, might as well go for new springs.
I'm 200#s, 55 yrs old and not a real fast rider anymore The stock springs feel pretty soft to me, I don't plan on riding 2 up ever.
Racetech calculator comes up with .92, I think .85 will be good enough.
Anyone want to weigh in, and yes I need to loose weight, only 5'11

My opinion and it's only that is that the .85's would be fine. Remember you're dealing with a company called Racetech their focus is on performance riding/racing.

 

I agree, .85's are what I installed and I'm 175-180 +gear.

 

I am in similar age bracket, height, weight & skill level. I replaced the stock springs with .90 Sonic springs & never regretted it. They are a bit of a cost savings over Racetech. Welcome to our common addiction.

 

I would go with a spring geared towards your weight. And take it easy on the old fat guys here, I'm one too.

I agree witht the .85. I put heavier ones (.95) and for the street they were just too much.

 

^^ Especially if you are not changing the valving!

 

There are lots of choices on fork springs. Racetech of course but also Ohlin's and Sonic and Eibach. You can also PM member Jamie Daugherty our resident suspension guru!

 

I would also try Jamie. He will give you a slight deal on Sonic Springs and oil, plus some good guidance.

 

Im 220lb and on .95 with RT gold valves. Perfect.

At 200lb you definitely want 0.90's. Do not go lower and think they will be better or more comfortable, it doesn't really work that way. That said, being within one step of suggested isn't really the end of the world.
