Noob here in Northern Illinois
Hi guys,
Wanted to finally start posting and introduce myself. I'm a relatively new rider, learned to ride last year and have been riding a 82 Honda nighthawk 450. Then came across this in a craigslist ad locally and thought hell yea.
So needless to say I picked her up. A 1999 Superhawk with a little over 25K on the dial and nearly mint condition. I paid 2K for her. PO gave me 3 jackets, 2 helmets and a cover. PO did a little work with some Jardine RT one slipons and end of last season he put new tires, clutch, battery and brakes. It ran really well with no issues.
But then I found this forum and now the fun really started.
Cosmetic: I did the powerbronze undertail and hugger, integrated tail, also my Heli bars and rideitmoto levers are on the way.
Mechanical: I just got done with the manual CCT's, tune up, and a complete fluid change. Still to do: Rebuild clutch slave has a small leak parts ordered. Also I think the PO might have dropped on the left side but not sure since there is no damage but the left side (shifter side) rearset sits farther in than the right. It looks off when looking from the the back of the bike like it may be bent but not sure. Maybe one of you guys knows what I am talking about.
Just want to say thanks to all the great guys on this forum for sharing your knowledge and support for guys like me new to the scene. Took out all of the guess work and really helped to get this far with the hawk. I've been doing alot or searching and reading for the past month and there is a lot of great information here and that helps a lot.
Just wanted to say hi and thanks again.

Not to steal any thunder but you'll never believe I got mine for $200.00! Last year, a guy a friend of mine knew was getting divorced and split w/ his wife and moved to FL. I picked up the bike (red) before he moved from a friend of his where it was staying/sitting for 5 years. This guy bought it new $9,000 in '98 made some bank and could care less ab the bike and told me to "deal with his ex-wife for the title." I said no problem and called her an offered $200.00 bucks and she handed it right over (clean title). Right now my friend and I are rebuilding the carbs/gas tank from sitting and a tiny bit of cosmetic damage but overall that's it; and there's only 9,000 miles on it. Haven't ridden it yet but I can't friggin wait!!
