New to the super hawk scene....

I just got a 98 superhawk and was wondering what i might need to know 1st hand. How close is this bike to the RC 51? what parts are interchangable with other bikes and is there a good after market parts place to look for goodies. I'm not a beginer by any meens but new to this bike, thanks for any help.

Hey Turbo,

Welcome to the site and to a great bike. Please read the forums and do some searches as just about everything has been covered many, many times but if you've got a specific question just ask.

Generally speaking, the superhawk is a better street bike than the 51 while the 51 will spank the 'hawks pants on the track.

Well I guess would depend on the rider now would'nt it? I think my Buell would kill the hawk on the track but we have yet to prove it via lap times.

It sure as hell depends on the rider. Around my area, there is a man known as Peanut. He rides a Ninja 250 and will beat any rider through the hills, guaranteed! Went riding with him today, along with about 20 others riders, all on 600-1300's. He led the pack and no one could catch him.

Didn't mean to threadjack or anything.

If I recall correctly, there are something like 4 clips that hold parts in place between the two engines that are interchangeable, other than that they are totally different engines.

However, the front end and brakes etc. are popular mods to swap the RC51 parts onto the SH.
