New Here

New to the Honda VTR and sure I can pick up some info here.

Purchased a 2002 VTR yesterday with 1380 total miles.

Not new to motorcycling but just getting in on the Superhawk Forum.

Thanks,

Rich

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad there's room in your garage for the VTR.

welcome to the forum, one thing i will note being that you have such a low mileage hawk, i would make sure you change the CCT's with them sitting for so long and not working springs can get weak from sitting in the same spot for a while and have a higher probability of failior, there are plenty of threads on CCT replacment. There is alot of good information on here and we are all as helpful as we can be! Ejoy the hawk and take care of her and she will be good to you!

Welcome to the forums!

One small note. Keep it stock, unless you go into hardcore engine modifications this bike runs best with the basic setup. However here are a few tidbits:

K&N air filters are a pain in the *** to tune for. Keep it stock.
Messing around with a DJ kit is a waste of time. Keep it stock (Unless you have hardcore engine mods)

CCT replacement, stick with OEM auto CCT and have them installed by the dealer. Or if you like to DIY ensure you follow the guide for CCT replacement which is stickied. I have MCCT but fine tuning them was a tad annoying.

Welcome to the board, the senior members have a world of information to share should the need arise.

Previous owner installed a set of Jardine High Mounts, & Progressive Shock. Had it dealer maintained with 3 oil changes, coolant change, new battery and whatever else it needed. I'm still going thru the paperwork. Has 1,380 miles on it.

Agreed, i have the dyno jet kit installed and k&n on mine, the tuning was a b!$ch and ended up buying another stock filter and a lot of dyno runs before i finally got it right.

Follow the carb set up thread, replace the cct's and ride the crap out of her!
