It'd be cheaper to fly to another country with better healthcare .. pretty much anything in the first world .. go skiing and blow your knee out and let travel insurance cover it. Seriously I don't care if you even THINK USA has the best healthcare, the fact that its out of reach of so many middle-low earners is wrong.

Like everyone else I am very sorry to hear about the need for a knee fix. All I can say is you have avery bright future ahead of you with the skills you have. That bike bike could win a show once it's done. Who knows maybe that trip to Sweden and a skiing incendent are you path to sucess? I don't know what policies they have for guest workers with pre existing conditions?

Altough surgery to fix an old problem you'd have to pay... If you are resident in Sweden (for how long doesn't matter) it's more a symbolical fee, if you are a "guest worker" it's more expensive, although I'm fairly sure you'd be ahead even with the travel arrangements and living expenses, by a great big bloddy sum... $80k over at your end... I'd guess $8k or probably less... And if a resident, 10k SEK instead...
Only problem is that right now most of our hospitals have a waiting list of about 2-3 months for that type of surgery, so you'd have to stay a while to work through the queue...

That really sucks to have to make that decision. I like the idea of trying to keep the bike on hold as a great showcase for your skills for future employment, but I don't know if that's a real option for you.

Why wouldn't this be an option for him? What is he going to get out of a half finished project bike that started out as a wreck so it might have a salvage title? Maybe $1500.00! how is that going to pay for his knee surgery? He could very easily make that kind of money with one or two maybe three fab jobs. I could see someone paying a few hundred bucks for one of those trick swingarm braces. The point is, without a showcase (that he already has and is not making payments on) he won't have anyone ask him to do work for them. This very thread is proof. Would anyone here have bought ccts from him if we hadn't seen his work on the bike? The bike is already making Truck money! This kid has MAD skills that will make him money but only if people see that he can do what he says he can.
Truck, I hope you the best. Maybe you can just fab up another knee. I suggest using carbon fiber with some chrome accents!! lol

well, Im going to keep the bike. No sense in selling something ive put over a thousand hours into for next to nothing.
Im gonna try for tenncare again, and hope I dont get rejected again.
If not I guess Ill have the surgery and just pay it off over time.
My surgery shouldnt be over 10k I hope, last one was so expensive cause I was in the hospital for 4 days. They said I was a day away from having my leg amputated above the knee. Infected as hell.

for some stupid reason Honda decided to use m6 bolts to keep the rearsets from rotating. Well I drilled and tapped them for m8 bolts which are much stronger.
And yes these rearsets are STOUT. very stout, I like it.
Once I finish the brake lever ill powdercoat everything in wrinkle black.

Actually, it would work better under the swingarm. That way the rear brake setup can remain stock.

Well I just got the clutch friction plates today. My pads have a little life left on them so Ill just hold on the EBC's for now. I really appreciate it though.
Now that Ive got those plates I can button up the engine. Install A set of my CCT's and Time the bike.
Do a couple more things and see if this bitch will FIRE UP.
I got another radiator today, Too bad its way too huge.
Also got my thermostat so I started my aluminum coolant plumbing.

good luck on the knee. from the looks of your thread I bet you actually could design a better joint! For the knee, if its not elective ,which it doesn't sound like it is, then you should get it done. Most medical centers have to do it - they'll either grant charity care or work out a payment plan with you. You'll have to stay in your state of residence unless it doesn't offer what you need. Your job is to find an expert knee surgeon that is experienced at what you specifically have need done. You have a long time using it at your age, you don't want more problems than you need when older.
For anyone else reading this thread, learn something. Don't go without insurance. Even if you just get emergency or catastrophic type insurance - get some. You can pay or skip the maintenance routine care stuff, but find the money for emergencies. A emergency surgery and week in the hospital can break you for a very long time...........And since we are all against socialism here, and universal healthcare, that isn't likely to change anytime soon .....................

aluminum hardlines shaping up.
I was going to buff them all so they would reflect heat better, BUT the aluminum has some coating that wont burn off, or be removed by paint stripper. If acetone wont take it off they will just get painted black.
