I just bought my first 99 Hawk!

Well I just bought a 1999 Superhawk and I am very excited to have it in my garage. I just need info on aftermarket parts for it. Small things like the rear seat cowl, lower fairings, any help would be greatly appreciated!

do some searching on the forum, all those topics are covered many times. And lets see some pics of the new superchicken!!

My advice: if it's stock, REPLACE THE R/R (regulator/rectifier) ASAP!

Welcome! And also just as important to know about is the CCT (cam chain tensioner) failure issue with this bike... look to replace it with a manual CCT, or at least read up on them a little in the forum.

New Parts

Welcome. I have had my '98' Hawk since new...
Still love it, even more now!! Lot's can be done to these bikes.
As far as oem stuff http://www.ronayers.com/ is a economical source.

APE manual CCT.
You can either replace the R/R with the correct honda one, or buy a cheap R6 one off ebay and follow the tutorial.

Welcome! You may also purchase an aftermarket R/R that is plug-n-play. I believe it's called electrosport. Congrats on the acquisition.

Those two are the important secretes... there's write ups and how-to's on the forum when you get around to replacing them. Pretty doable stuff- you don't need special tools but do need a little bit of time and ability to follow directions when changing the CCTs.

Everything else is up to you- some people have 13 years of mods on their bikes, so there are plenty of ideas floating around!

Well... I think the reason skokie asked that question is that there are a few of us here that are repeat offenders as far as buying VTR's...

I know for a fact that I'm not the worst, I only have one complete running bike, and one in parts (with some duplicates)...

There are a few repeat VTR buyers and/or multiple owners but I was really just joking.

I was an original renzereo (spelling Greg?) forum member until it folded & did not discover the current forum until 07.

I've owned my 97 since new and like many others have been modifying it consistently as I've cranked out +60k miles on it along with 5 other steeds + had access to hang gliders and single engine aircraft (even before starting out in aerospace in 76 with Convair as an engineer).

Over the years since 73 I've always had at least 2 motorbikes but have lost count how many. I prefer 2 or less cylinders and carburetors...but am intrigued by the newer Triumph 3-cylinder jobs (harking back to my 72 or 73 Tiger)
