Finally getting my SH!!!

I am going today to pick up the bike and I am pretty stoked. Been awhile since I have been on this type of bike an I am ready. The bike I am getting has never been dumped or dropped and really looks brand new! Has some extras and I think all in all is going to last me a while.I know there is going to be tons of ifferent stuff I am going to want for the bike, hope you guys can help me out. Also whats the best gas mileage you guys get with your Superhawks? Thanks!!

Welcome! Fine choice! Post pics! Best gas mileage is right around exceedingly poor IIRC, almost as bad as an economy car or a mid size hybrid. Riding these is like great sex, takes some energy but you decide if it's worth it!

Gas mileage relies a lot on your right hand... My SH is pretty much stock carb wise and I can get 43-44mpg if I take it easy. Congrats on your new bike!

Nice bike. Don't see many Vance & Hines. How do they sound? LOVE the Chevette!

Yeah, nice Shove-it, opps I meant Chevette.

I get 40 or so mpg pretty consistently, but on a hard canyon ride I've gotten as low as 35 mpg. Stock pipes and jetting.

Welcome.

I think they sound awesome, just not high mounts, so I am thinking about selling them and getting high mounts, and thanks on the chevette, got lots of time and money in it, its built for stereo competition.

It keeps the valves in time with the pistons, so they don't crash into each other.
If the tensioner fails the extra slack in the chain can cause catastrophic engine damage.

Yeah, I've taught Vocational Automotives since 1974, and we used to get a fair number of Chevettes in the shop. Most were poorly maintained, and they had little quirks that made us hate them. Like you had to remove the A/C compressor to take off the distributor cap.

Yours looks cool though. Fixing it up with audio is a great idea.
