There isn't a fuel pump on this bike, so don't go trying to buy one

I would take jbaxx's advice and start searching the forum on issues with the petcock/diaphragm

No the storm dosent have a pump, it uses a vaccume tube to open the petcock when the engine is running, might want to check the vaccume line as well, if that is leaking then it will starve the carbs of fuel as the petcock wont open fully?

You can check the petcock diaphragm with a vacuum pump hooked up to the side vacuum port of the petcock housing. It should hold vacuum. But figuring you probably don't have a vacuum pump, you can just suck on it, then put your tongue over the opening. If your tongue doesn't stick to the hose, the diaphragm is leaking.

Very importantly, I should add that gas will start flowing when vacuum is applied. So DON'T check it with the fuel hoses to the carbs disconnected.

You should be able to get to the vacuum hose by just lifting the tank a few inches at the rear. There's a U-shaped tool in the tool kit for propping the tank up.

I have known people who spent hour after hour trying to solve a problem without looking at the obvious first. How much gas is in the tank?

Hey, sometimes the more knowledge you have, the more likely you are to overlook the simple stuff. It all comes with experience.

I've put more work into this bike than my 3 previous bikes over the 24 years before buying my VTR in 2005. Never touched a carb on the other 3. But this bike is by far the most fun to ride.

Haven't gotten the chance to spend much time on her but is by far the most potential for fun in a bike, indeed. Much hooliganry to be had on the super hawk, like the part where the wheel comes up in third, on accident.

This thread has been dead for almost a year. Mr SuperBlink is banned and hasn't logged on since 05/2011. I fear we will never know. However, if you look at his past posts, he was in the process of swapping a 954 front end to his hawk some months later, so I suspect all was not lost.
