3D time

This is what happens when your boss it out for a few days . Also thanks to Truckinduc for making his fork brace thread which caused me to get back on an old VTR front end 3D model I was putting together. I designed my version of a fork brace yesterday and like the looks of it. I plan to at least finish up the entire frontend before selling my bike. I'll have to bring in the fender to scan it but hopefully I can finish this off before selling the bke. Figured I'd post up and share some progress pics in this thread as I create new models.

What 3D modeling program are you using?

The lower triple is still there even after adding a fork brace...

Inventor Professional

lazn, I know not all parts are there or exactly how they should be . I roughly sketched out the fork and tubes just this morning. Next week I'll have something more realistic.

Good looking brace. Only thing is people would have to completely dis assemble the front end to put it on.

Thanks! I like the webbed look of yours as well. I wished I could use all the tooling and resources at my work but they would know it doesn't belong on a fire system lol. You will probably make a good little business for yourself here if you keep pumping out parts

Yeah that is a negative about this design but dig the looks of it!

I will probably make a few different styles. Some where you have to slide it over and some where its two halves.

Nice rendering! I like the 3D stuff and wish I could do stuff like that.

I wished I still had a demo of HyperShot. Talk about realistic rendering! What takes mintues in HyperShot takes hours to build in Inventor. All the lighting and materials takes way too much time to make it photorealistic in Inventor.

To give you an idea of how much more realistic HyperShot makes 3D models look, here are some models and renders I did when we had the demo. Unreal...

SlowHAWK is an unknown quantity at this point
We have a few seats of Hypershot in my office... it's great for renderings, although you'll quickly find out you need Big Blue to run anything with a ton of resolution in a short timespan... I have a brand new 4 processor Dell Workstation... and it runs like an old IBM 486 when you dial up the reflections and transparencies.... but an awesome tool regardless.... It's only like 200-300 bucks for the "small version".. not bad for it's capabilites.
