Why You Shouldn't Ride Beyond Your Ability
Why You Shouldn't Ride Beyond Your Ability
IMO,It looks like the riders attention was diverted for a millisecond when he nearly clipped the first biker then as a result goes wide into the second.
Yeah basically got overwhelmed and hit the brakes while he should have feathered them and lean as much as possible to recover it's lane. Not 100 % sure it was possible tough, he was going waaay too fast. I don't feel bad when I try to follow a buddy, if I can't pass safely, screw it I'll catch later, the fact that the first guy passes does not mean the the second can pass. I'm getting pissed off again thinking of those dumbasses that cost lives and make our riding impossible due to the poor image the bikers reflects.
We all go wide now and then and everyone knows the feeling you get in your gut....and If its scary enough the jolt of adrenaline you get too...I felt myself leaning right just by watching that.....scary stuff...
Close Calls suck

really though, I don't see any reason anyone would swing wide unless they're riding over their head. I've been riding dirt since I was 3 (thank you dad!) and one thing I learned at a young age is to ride my own ride. I've got a nice scar and a dent in my thigh muscle from when I rode way over my head on my little CR80 trying to keep up with the older kids on their 125's, didn't see the big rock that sent me flying over my bars and flying 20'ish feet total, though I did bounce off the ground a few times on the way. Cost of my lesson? 1 Broken collarbone, 2 broken ribs, and 8 stitches to close up the gaping wound my footpeg left in my leg. Will I ride over my head ever again? No.
had a guy on a Harley ride past his limits this weekend.... didn't make the turn and used to much rear brake.... you can guess the rest. He was lucky no one was coming in the other lane and also that he was able to jump right up and up right the bike!
Sorry I didnt know I was in the company of perfection....my humble apologies...

who is we? do you have a turd in your pocket?

It's not about being perfect anyway, it's about being intelligent vs. stupid. It's about keeping your cool on the road or dirt or whatever you happen to be riding on and not riding above your limits, and thusly you wont have to go wide and get scared.
Now now...no need to get angry. Even skilled riders ride like ******** sometimes. I'm not saying this guy was skilled, but I will admit it can happen to any of us. We all have off days where even the simplest of things seem hard to do. The trick is being able to recognize those days and not ride to hard.
