Got Rear-Ended Today....

...Not too bad though. I was at a stop light in the middle lane behind an SUV, she was stopped behind me in a newer BMW sedan. The light turned green for traffic in the left tun lane. when they started moving she must of thought all traffic was going. I looked in my rear view and saw her creeping forward. I beeped the horn twice to get her attention as I let off the brakes started to let the clutch out to get out of the way... then she got on it. All in all.. not too bad... I'll take this over a lay down and day. I just hope she can pay up and get the parts quick as I've got a 4k mile trip planned to start on July 18th. Bent the sub frame, passenger peg, bolts, and the right muffler. The rim is straight, but the tire is pretty scuffed.

that sucks, but I would take that over a pavement eating experience.

Glad you're OK Inde! I'll bet your heart was racing while this was going on. If the odd can is not damaged I could use it on the VFR. The D&D is just melting the packing out of the low end now. Time for a change. LMK.

Get some rest. The day after is the first struggle - the day after the day-after is worse. I'll pm the details.

You've always been good with a camera make sure you take lots of media on your trip! We like pictures!

No, she was very apologetic. Very nice lady indeed. Sure beats getting hit by an illegal alien with no insurance and having them leave the scene.

Glad your okay right now. As already stated, the day after and after may bring out a bit of pain here and there, especially in your lower back and neck. I watch folks do exactly the same thing the lady did...the left lane is signaled to move and folks think everyone is moving on a green and they end up jumping a couple feet only to slam on their brakes. People need to pay more attention.

That usually only happens with the lead driver, I know since I've done it myself (after a bad day at work). Good thing I'm retired now.

Too bad "pain and suffering" doesn't get paid by the insurance company as well, since you have to take time to chase down parts and make repairs.

Glad you came out okay.

I'm glad she didn't sandwich you between the SUV. It looks like you were able to keep the bike upright. Kudos to you for that while the metal in back was getting all twisted.

Maybe you dont wanna hear this but .... That bikes totaled. If she is going through insurance they are totalling it. They may give you a good ammount. Get a quote for what those wheels cost and the exhaust and they will add it. You could walk away with 5-6K$ and still keep the hawk. Sorry im always thinking money.

She says she wants to pay out of pocket, but if she wanted to do an insurance claim it definitely wouldn't come back as totaled. The damage is very minimal, it only came to $1,157.08. That's for new Yoshimura Titanium RS3 Zyclone's, subframe, right passenger peg bracket, the 2 bolts that mount it to the sub frame and the bolt that mounts the exhaust to the bracket. I had my buddy pick me up in his track as I didn't want to ride it home just incase the wheel got cocked off to one side... no need to throw a chain too . When I got back to my shop I removed the wheel, inspected the axle and spun the wheel on a balancer. All were straight.

I was ready to move out around the van, I just didn't do it fast enough. I don't know how I stayed up on two wheels.. probably just dumb luck.

Thanks to everybody for the well wishes. Stay safe out there!

Kind of off topic, but yes it does. It called a personal injury claim. Same case but different claim. Huge *** pain and totally not worth it in the end but money can be had from the insurance companies...

You are one lucky dude! 8 lives left? I'm glad that your fine bike is mendable, even happier that you didn't get smooshed. Note to self: Keep an eye on the mirrors.

Well that sucks, but at least the lady is being cool and willing to pay, the damage was minimal, and you didn't get run over. Glad you're ok, now get that bad-boy fixed!

My Yosh's ! So sorry to see the cans I sold you damaged. Glad you're OK. Same kind of thing happened to me (before I bought those Yosh's). Stopped at a red light minding my own busuness and-"thump", away goes the bike, me hopping along trying to save it. Almost did. Only broke my brake lever and turn signals though. The guy paid up right away. He works at the local Jamba Juice so i get free stuff there now too. Too bad he wasn't a bartender.

that bites, but I kinda like the new high mount can...do you think she'd take another run at you to try to even out the left can so you'd have 2 high mounts?

Glad it wasn't worse! Your attitude seems so mellow. I would be very p.o.'d if someone's negligence caused damage to me or my SH.
