Will shimming my carb needles fix this?

My bike runs great and I'm really happy with it...except for one minor annoyance -- popping on deceleration. Some people like it but I don't, I want it to sound nice and smooth when I'm off the throttle and decelerating. The mufflers had a pretty hardcore bafflectomy done when I bought the bike but everything else is stock (new air filter and plugs).

It idles great, starts easy, runs to redline without a hiccup, but has the decel problem. I've already flipped the reed in the PAIR system and that helped some but it's still doing it.

I have been researching and think that maybe shimming the needles would be good and might surprise me with some more low/mid range power I didn't know I had as well. But then I read some people say this is a good idea for the popping and then some people say that shimming the needles is only good for 2000-3000RPM and 1/8th throttle. So I'm afraid I'll not only waste my time and not fix the decel popping and then mess up how well the bike runs now.

Popping on decel can usually be remedied by enriching the fuel screws. You may want to make sure you don't have any air leaks in your exhaust as this is another potential source for the popping

That makes sense and I've read that the fuel screws would solve it as well but wasn't sure if shimming accomplished the same thing or if if you to do jets instead... or both?

I did check the exhaust and I don't believe it's leaking. I tightened up all the bolts and the nuts on the header pipes. The exhaust gaskets seem to be in good shape. Did a quick once over of all the vacuum lines with I installed the manual CCTs in the Spring and didn't see anything.

Maybe try backing out the pilots, half a turn at a time. If not go the other wat. My bike pops a little a times, other times not. I think it depends on temp. Not gonna screw it, minor issue

Yeah I don't think it needs anything major like a full jet kit. Just a little tweak whether its pilots or shims. Right now I'm fighting myself between even doing either one today because I could use that time to ride!
