1. Let's not turn this into a earl thread! or ya get the hook.
2. Was just looking to get feedback from the guru's on various topics.
Was looking for what everyone does for basic items - in particular - spark plugs
How often do you guys change em?
And I've used a K&N air filter forever (after carb jet & pipes) - I clean it at least once a year or twice depending upon how much riding I do, never an issue.
I bought iridium tipped plugs so haven't changed those in 20,000km. I balance carbs about every 10,000km but if the idle is smooth there's no real need; I had two permanent vacuum hoses connected so plugging in the balancer was quick and easy. My K&N got cleaned about every 10,000km too but I don't ride anywhere dusty so that was probably more than it needed.
I've changed plugs twice. Once when I bought it, and just last year. Still less than 35k right now.
U need to ride more - Jeez
I think I have 67k but only do about 3 to 5k a yr now for the last 10 yrs.
My current plugs only have 9k on em.
I want to get back to WVa this year again - great roads down there & I want to ride up near Erie - may try to ride to see my nephew at OSU as there is a pretty cool park south of Columbus called Hocking Hills. Hmmm the more I think on this - may do a late April early May road trip - go up thru NW Pa then dance between OH & Pa / WVa heading south over to Park - then up to OSU - (my nephew plays football for Buckeyes)

Having more than one steed in the stable slowed down the odo on the Hawk. Sorry to hear about your nephew.
Brake rotors - I think last I checked the pads were low & I already have pads but I think its time to change OEM front rotors.
I heard Galfer are not the ones to get.
I don't want to break the bank either.
What you guys using?
I posted a comment to a newer member, cannot find the thread, who was wanting to install Gafler wave rotors. I, and looks like mistakenly, indicated that there were some negatives to consider about the Gafler rotors. I have searched for the articles that contained the negative results with Gafler, but have been unable to find them. In fact all I have found is good to excellent reviews. The only exception is on some installs the rotors were not, as recommended in the instructions, clocked so that the right and left sides are not symmetrical. That is one side has the peak of the wave and the other side of the wheel has the low part of the wave. The "out of phase" seems to cause a little pulsing at low speed (twenty mph or so). Once put right the pulsing went away.

So did an earl change yesterday & was reminded that I have an leak - I'm thinking my valve cover gaskets are toast - to be expected from an almost 19 yr old bike. Note: when I check the site glass - the earl level is never low - Hmmmm
Going to get chain adjusted over the weekend by a buddy who works on motos - I'll ask him to take a look - probably will be my Winter project.
I'd suspect changing these gaskets are not too difficult - just need to remove gas tank & probably some other shyte.
Something is making me remember the front cover can be a pita, but it's been a few years since I've done it. Otherwise, it's not too much of a pain, especially if you've deleted the pair crap. Get some anaerobic sealer for the corners of the 1/2 round spots. Hondabond or Motoseal.
