lol, yes, i have had a 2008 ducati 1098 since 2009. i have an open clutch cover and a termi exhaust and the bike is loud. but it is a good loud, far from the super irritating, relatively quiet, honda whirring sound.

Woah, I like the wirr. Sounds like a very tight high strung supercharger.

For outright noise, check out Hilmersson's twincharged Volvo powered Opal Manta

Mate,

The whirring noise is part of the allure of owning a VTR.

I have no anti rattle gears or water pump gears or chain and the noise stayed the same.

I used to worry about the other noises but after 4 years plus of ownership I would get worried if my VTR didn't make some noises.

They are a noisy engine but not as noisy as some bikes I have owned.

Loud pipes help!

quite normal for this bike.
Seconded. Coming from my newer Kawi to the SH led to a week of panic over noises, rattles, and whines. These motors make tons of noise, whining noises, carb farts that sound like a rod escaping, and rattling that just sounds unnerving.

yup, i hate that sound. i find it very irritating. i have yoshimura slip ons, which sound great, but then that focking whirring sound comes in as the revs climb... grrrr, it takes away from the exhaust note. kinda like driving your car on the freeway and trying to listen to the radio with the windows down.

i have heard it on other hondas too. a friend of mine once referred to it as "the honda whir"

my ducati does not have it, thankfully.

good for you guys liking it.

Irritating? Interesting.

On my bike, as the RPM's increase, all I hear is the exhaust getting lounder and more wind noise. Can't even hear the gear noise.
