Smile Cam Chain Tensioners

I have a 1997 Honda VTR, which I have had for 3 years just recently, a few people have asked me about the CCT's, I am fairly mechanically minded, but never worked on my bike, I normally send it to the professionals.
Apparently I have automatic CCT's, now a lot of people say, change them, my bike has done just over 17000miles, and I have no problems with the bike what so ever, have I been lucky, or is the fact that these CCT;s are automatic, mean they are OK, I am a big believer of if it aint broke don't mess with it
Can someone help me on this, as I don't want to be spending lots of money for no reason, apparently they are simple to fit, but again, I am not sure
Advice please would be much appreciated

You should definitely change them. The search function here works wonders
