Removed fuel Tank...BUT NO BREATHER TUBE OR DRAIN TUBE?

I bought my 1998 Super Hawk only last week....Bike seems to run great to me (first bike owner/do it yourselfer). This week I am gettin it painted so I removed all the fairings and gas tank. When I removed the gas tank there was only the 3 hoses connected to the petcock, and the fuel reserve sensor connected to the tank. So as Im emptying the gas tank of the gas, I see the 2 holes at the rear of the gas tank, (drain tube and breather tube holes im assuming from research), and gas is coming out of them as I emptied the tank. There were absolutely no tubes or hoses going into these holes when I took it off and they are not covered cause like I said, fuel was coming out of them also while draining. Im wondering, if these holes are wide open with no hoses conneced to them, how come gas wasnt running out of them like a faucet onto my engine when I was riding the whole first week and fueling the bike? AND (most importantly) if there should be hoses there....where do the hoses run and connect to so I can replace them?

All gas tank diagrams I see of my bike show the breather tube and drain tube but dont show where they lead to. Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to be riding around with a fuel system problem....I dont want to blow up!! lol.

Please and Thanks for any help in advance!....Im so confused.

8541Hawk will become famous soon enough
The hoses, if they are there, go to the left side of the bike above the flywheel cover.

They are a vent line and the overflow (in case you over fill the tank)

The fact that gas came out of the overflow is pretty normal if the tank was on the full side and you tilted it a bit too much, so no worries there.

The lines are not absolutely necessary but to keep things neater and I guess you could have problems if you habitually overfill your tank as now the overflow would end up on the top of the airbox instead of on the ground.

The hose routing is shown on page 1-22 of the service manual which you can find in the knowledge base
