Hello everyone! A friend of mine with a 98 VTR 1000 FIRESTORM 26000 km call me desperate last night! He observed that the oil in the engine is under the low mark! In about 10 km the tachometer has stoped and the engine start to feel lazy! When he came home, he changed the oil but the engine is very lazy and the tachometer is death!A strange sound from the front cylinder appear! The amount of oil changed out was about 2,5 liter! What should be the problem??The tachometer is death and the engine accelerate very lazy!Need help please?(sorry for my english)

Was there smoke coming out of the exhaust when this was happening?

that's a little more over a liter short of where he needs to be, not good... but if he changed it he should be good in that department because at least it had some oil in it. also with the tac could the sound you're hearing coming from the front cylinder be the tac problem? as far as lazy goes, I have no idea

no smoke out! thanks
I think the oil isnt a much problem with 2,5 liter 10 km
Maybe the ignition is out of date because the first cause was the tachometer , then the engine lazy

If he has to rebuild, he can do it in a way that makes more "pow pow", and thus engine not very lazy!

Unfortunately with the clues, a CCT failure is likely...

Although I'm not so sure the tacho failure is related to the engine failure that directly... It could very well be a burnt cable as the engine would likely have been scorching hot when that low on oil...

CCT for sure? The engine works , but it is lazy ! 2,5 liter of oil is enough to reach the top of the cylinder?I think the camshaft is worn out or the crankshaft!
