Oil pump chain deflection

Im assembling my motor and It seems my oil pump chain has excess deflection.

I will measure it here in a minute, but I doubt it is supposed to be this loose.

Anyone know?

inderocker is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't think there is an actual number in the service manual, but every motor i've been into has a lot of oil pump chain deflection.... even mine at 4,500 miles.

Ya. I couldnt find anything in the service manual.

Im putting it all back together, but might order a new chain anyway. I dont wanna take any chances with my oil pump.

Now I have to get a 30mm 12 point socket for the clutch.

A new chain is always good insurance, but having said that you're not likely to notice much difference with a new one in regards to deflection. That sounds pretty close to what my new chain was like after I fitted it.

Not sure, but I have had other owners ask exactly the same question, so it would seem that is the way they are designed. I have never heard of a failure.
