New Guy Needs Help with gas tank issue

Hi All,

Just bought a 98 Hawk with 30k miles. Took off the tank to change air filter. Marked the two hoses and the ports on the fuel tap that they go to and the vacuum hose and port. Also the drain/overflow (not sure of the name) hose and the larger port on the tank itself. I did not remember seeing another (5th) hose anywere on the tank. But I have searched the archives and have seen a few people say there is another hose. Also looks like there is on the exploded view of parts from honda. In the picture I attached, I am pointing at a nipple that has fuel leaking out of it while the tank is upside down. Does this require a hose? if so, is it just a vent hose that I need to route down with the other? When I took off the tank there was not a hose connected to this port??? I am new at bikes and this has me very stressed out. Please help!
Thanks,
Ken

There are five tubes. The two fuel lines, one breather tube and one drain tube which attach to the bottom of the tank- one where your finger is pointing and the other directly below in the picture. The fifth tube is the vacuum line from ther rear cylinder manifold which attaches to the extreme rear left side of the petcock.

The diagram is on page 2-4 of the service manual. If you don't have one you can find the link with the forum search engine and download it for free.

I have the SM, but I need to confirm where the vent, drain, and breathing tubes are supposed to be connected at the other end (I bought the bike last month with the tubes disconnected). Any ideas where I can find a diagram, photo, or drawing that would show me the correct connecting points?

I don't remember seeing a posted photo here, Likely there is, finding it might take awhile.
The hoses connect to the bottom of the tank. The nipples are different sizes, as are the hoses. Exit left side, about even with the bottom of the engine.

Aha, found the diagrams at the front of the Service Manual! I have attached photos of the appropriate diagrams here. Bottom line is that the breather and rain tubes are open to the ground. BUT, the vacuum line going to the Petcock needs to be attached to the engine somewhere in order to draw a vacuum on the Petcock to open the diaphgram, right?

Base of the carb/intake runner should have a fitting for the line from the fuel petcock to attach to .
