Need some info

Im in the process of finishing up my RC51 front end conversion but nothing seems to be going my way. Did the Rc51 come with different tyeps of forks? I purchased an upper tripple tree from ebay and it doesn't even come close to fitting. The hole that goes into the stem is much larger in the tripple tree than the stem. My superhawk upper fits the stem on the lower tripple clamps that I have with my forks. Also, when I go to bolt the stem together it needs about a 1/4 inch more to go but the threads don't go down that far. Anyone experience anything simmilar to this? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Which one was bigger? The stem for the upper tree is bigger than the stem... So Im guessing thats the Sp2 not the Sp1?

Or can I use a 954 upper tree? There's a couple on ebay right now...

That I'm not sure of but if you go to www.ronayers.com you can match up the part #'s.

Sp2 had larger diameter stem and increases in the bearing surface. I don't think the fork external diameters or lengths were any different (internals and lighter perhaps). You should be able to match up the part number for the two parts you have with Ron Ayers and determine if you have a matching set or not.

I'm not sure what your question about the threads is. Are you saying the stem is too long? You still need to tighten more and have run out of threads? I don't recall having that problem - are the bearing/race surfaces matching up and you have all parts/washers/ back in place on top?

Then it would stand to reason he has an sp1 lower and an sp2 upper. You are correct about the forks I should have been clearer on that, the length and diameter are the same but the internals are different.

yes, I am running out of threads and my bearings are setup fine. I rant accross a machinist who is going to set me up with a shim so I can set some pre-load on the bearings. I just got to figure out if a 954 upper will fit on my RC stem... That or I need to get another RC upper tripple....

If its worth anything the 954 upper triple clamp works on the RC51 lower. As long as you have the Sp1 forks. Now I just have to weigh some rim options... And she'll be all done.
